Admiral Yacht Insurance were pleased to be able to support the Marine Careers Fair hosted by the Royal Yacht Squadron Isle of Wight Foundation at the Castle in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Prince Edward visited the marine careers fair and enjoyed it so much that he stayed twice as long as expected.
The aim of the marine careers fair was to provide an opportunity for young people and their parents to explore the array of marine careers available. Exhibitors were on hand to discuss qualification requirements, different pathways to gaining an end-goal career, and to help students explore all the possibilities on offer. Sixth form students from across the Isle of Wight were invited to attend with the Royal Yacht Squadron Foundation providing transport.
The Earl of Wessex spoke to both students and exhibitors. Trustee for the Royal Yacht Squadron Isle of Wight Foundation, Susie Sheldon, said: “He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He was very interested in the young people and very good at speaking to them. He made time to speak to every exhibitor at the marine careers fair.”
As well as attending presentations and workshops, students had the opportunity to meet exhibitors from a broad range of marine career providers, trainers and businesses including The Royal Navy, Red Funnel, Hovertravel, the Ocean Youth Trust and Admiral Yacht Insurance.
