The Admiral Yacht Insurance team were pleased to support the World Cruising Club (WCC) Bluewater Open Boat Weekend briefing event arranged in conjunction with Berthon and held for the first time on the 7th and 8th June 2014 at the Berthon Marina in Lymington.
This was a new event intended to supplement the WCC Guilford Seminar with an opportunity to attend briefings and to visit yachts that had taken part in previous ARC rallies or were on offer for sale by Berthon Brokerage.
The event was open to anyone who might be contemplating taking part in future ARC or World ARC rallies, and it was well attended with over 150 potential rally participants enjoying their visit.
The briefings provided advice and recommendations on a wide range of subjects such as safety equipment, catering, routing, rigging and most important of all how to enjoy yourself when long distance yacht cruising.
Many of the attendees were thinking of taking part in an ARC rally and some were looking to purchase a yacht ready for a trip next year.
As a sponsor of the WCC events, Admiral Yacht Insurance were delighted to be on hand with specialist suppliers of yacht training, delivery services and equipment to meet prospective participants and answer any questions on the yacht insurance cover they really need for their planned trip.
We met with some old and new friends and look forward to working with them to realise their dreams.
Fortunately the weather was kind, and the marina was an excellent venue for the event with many blue water capable yachts to hand for viewing, and a real bonus was provided by a magnificent display of airmanship by the Red Arrows who performed locally on Saturday afternoon.
