We provide insurance on behalf of Travelers Insurance Company Limited. Rated AA by Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services – who provide an assessment of the financial strength of an insurance organisation – Travelers are a leading insurer reputed for paying claims to its policyholders.

Yes. Simply call or email us and we’ll happily resend you your most recent policy documents.

You can call us to pay by debit or credit card (we do not accept AMEX), or easily make a direct transfer by following the instructions detailed on the documentation we’ve sent to you.

You don’t need a survey to get a quote, but we may ask for one before agreeing to provide cover. We generally ask for a survey on any boat older than 25 years, or if the boat is about to embark on an extensive cruising trip.

Depending on the type and age of standing rigging, we may ask for a rig report. In rare circumstances, we will ask for standing rigging to be replaced.

We usually provide cover for use of your boat for personal use only, however, we’ll consider requests for owner/skipper charter, so do contact us. We cannot provide cover for bareboat charter.

On occasion. For instance, for participants of a long distance rally such as World ARC, we prefer a 1st January renewal date allowing for boats to be in St Lucia at the start of the policy and in South Africa when the policy is due for renewal.

It’s perfectly normal for blue water cruisers to be unclear on their cruising plans, particularly in the early stages of a 2-3 year extended voyage. We suggest that if you’re uncertain which areas you need to cover for, opt for a more limited range with an option for extending. This way, you’ll know how much extra premium is required so you can budget accordingly.

Yes. We’re happy to accommodate changes to cruising area or any other aspect of your yacht insurance policy at any time during the year. Adjustments may result in an additional premium, but we never charge administrative fees for mid-term changes.

Your policy covers the liabilities of your skipper and crew to third parties while they are operating your boat, but it does not include cover for liabilities of paid crew. That said, we can arrange separate Employers Liability insurance for you with a specialist provider.

Our standard yacht insurance policy allows you to take part in any race or regatta, but does not provide cover for the rig unless it is damaged by collision, stranding, sinking, or fire. The hull is covered, but with double excess during racing. Additional cover for the rig is available while racing, and the cost depends on replacement costs and the amount and type of racing.

Your claim will be assessed on the basis of the ‘agreed value’ – the insured value stated on your policy schedule at that given time and in accordance with the terms of your policy.

Contact us as soon as possible to inform us of any changes. We’re happy to accommodate changes at any time during your year, whether that be changing contact details or an aspect of your yacht insurance policy. Adjustments may result in an additional premium, but we never charge administrative fees for mid-term changes.

We don’t offer no claims bonus on any policy where the insured value exceeds £200,000 and/or where the boat is spending the majority of the policy period outside the boundary of UK and European waters. Nevertheless we’ll take your individual circumstances and experience into consideration to quote a competitive premium.

Because we’re committed to offering the best personal service and tailored terms, we don’t believe in automatic renewals. Instead, we’ll offer you a renewal quote about a month before your yacht insurance policy is due to expire, and ask you whether there have been any changes to your requirements.

We have chosen to remain a specialist insurer and can’t quote for commercial vessels or boats valued over £1million. However we can refer you directly to Hayes Parsons Insurance Brokers, our award-winning sister company, who may be able to help.

Make a Claim

Provided you are legally liable for the damage, we can work directly with the owner or their insurer to settle their part of your claim.

Yes, provided your yacht is seaworthy and safe for continued use. Advised by our appointed surveyor, we can keep your claim open until repairs are complete, provided no additional costs are incurred due to delays.

We can make these payments on your behalf as soon as we have approved the estimates for repair work. We can also make direct payments to settle final invoices once the work has been completed to your satisfaction.

Ideally, you’ll have been able to obtain two competitive estimates for the repair work, which we will review with you and our surveyor. Provided there is not a significant difference in cost between the estimates and all parties are agreed that your preferred yard has the required skills, facilities and capabilities, they’ll be able to undertake your repair work.

Our claims team is on hand to respond to your message promptly. We’ll also monitor our emails outside of office hours, and in emergencies we can respond by phone to provide advice or arrange prompt local support from an experienced surveyor. We’ll stay in touch during the claim repair period to assist when required.

What Our
Clients Think

"Handled with ease"

“An unusual set of circumstances due to distance and awaiting a survey report were dealt with without any problems at all. A smooth change of vessel handled with professional ease and helpfulness. I have used Admiral Insurance for a good while, including several long distance voyages including a circumnavigation which all were handled with ease.”

Mr Emery - Customer

“Great service, good value marine insurance”

“Cristelle helped me to insure our new (to us) 44 year old boat, a SHE 36'. An old boat always has a few wrinkles and Cristelle made the process easy and straightforward. This is the second boat we have insured with Admiral Marine and I wouldn't go anywhere else. You get good value for money and an excellent, personal service. What more could you want from marine insurance?”

Mrs Ginny Kidd - Customer

“Admiral Marine made it easy”

“Admiral Marine made it easy for me to insure my boat. All correspondence was via email so no waiting in long phone queues, and all communication was very prompt. Would certainly recommend Admiral Marine.”
